Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has received an award recognizing her as the “Heroine for Health” by the Women in Global Health.
Women in Global Health is an organization that works to achieve gender equality in global health leadership.
This was during the World Health Assembly in one of the meetings taking place in Geneva Switzerland.
The award was in recognition of the work the minister has done in advancing health in Uganda, communities and beyond.
On her part, Dr Aceng said she loved to see transformed health systems where everybody gets quality health.
“It is painful to see women, children and adolescents dying needlessly from preventable causes and lam extremely glad that government is set to address this issue evidenced by the progress we have made in infrastructure, human resources, equipment and medicines”.
While at the World Health Assembly Hon Aceng also emphasized the need for a further rethinking to ending the Ebola outbreak in DRC, Commitment to universal health coverage through strengthening primary health care and community health programs.
