The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has partnered with the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) to conduct a joint general cleaning exercise of the Kawempe Specialized National Referral Hospital.
According to a statement by PRAU issued on Thursday, the exercise is part of an effort to promote the spirit of voluntarism in the country’s corporate culture.
The cleaning will take place on Saturday May 25, 2019 beginning at 10am at Kawempe hospital.
The participants will be members of PRAU as well as officers and men of the UPDF.
Sarah Kagingo, the President of PRAU said PR practitioners are often called upon to provide insights on Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) initiatives that their respective organizations should take on.
“Kawempe Specialized National Referral Hospital provides maternal and neonatal health services. We are happy to provide support to such a facility that is critical to the health and well being of the children and women of Uganda,” Sarah Kagingo said in the statement.
The PR body says UPDF is a critical partner in this effort as they are at the forefront of safeguarding Ugandans, have been involved in several cleaning exercises and are often among the first responders in case of emergencies.
The UPDF Spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire said “we look forward to this partnership with PRAU and this engagement will be yet another opportunity to renew UPDF commitment to serve the people of Uganda”.
PRAU which was founded in 1976 is a membership-based umbrella body of PR practitioners in Uganda. The association brings together PR practitioners that work in Uganda’s private and public sectors.
Its core mandate focuses on the professional development of its members and contributing to the general development of the PR industry in Uganda.
