With farmers awaiting the harvest season, farmers in Teso region seem to be counting their losses already due to the army worm attack on their maize.
“We don’t know what to do. I am not sure of my crop especially the maize,” Janet Aryonget, a resident of Komuge sub county in Bukedea district explained the devastation.
The army worm has caused mass destruction which is irreversible in Teso sub region with various farmers losing out on millet and sorghum.
Despite all efforts by local farmers in Teso sub region to cultivate crops, their efforts this season might not yield any result after fall army worm destroyed several gardens in the sub region.
The pests have left many farmers in most sub counties devastated by the losses encountered so far in Bukedea district.
Samuel David Takan a retired civil servant said that the damage caused by the army worm has affected sixteen sub-counties of Bukedea.
