Drama ensued at the Parliament yesterday while Opposition politician Nandala Mafabi was being evicted from his former office.
Hon. Nandala Mafabi is the Member of Parliament representing BBudadiri West and also the Chairperson Public Accounts Committee and has been sitting in the North wing on the Third floor at Parliament house.
The Budadiri west Legislator was supposed to transfer to the fourth floor where the PAC Chairperson sits but instead decided to cause commotion claiming he is entitled to an office as the MP representing Budadiri west.
The PAC Chairperson’s office was previously occupied by Hon. Angeline Osege who was recently replaced with Hon. Nandala Mafabi.
Recently, Parliament designated and or elected commissioners and Hon. Mwijukye Francis was designated by the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change as its representative in the Commission (apex decision making organ of Parliament).
Just like Hon. Nandala-Mafabi is taking up office on the Fourth Floor, Hon. Mwijukye Francis will be taking up office on the Fifth Floor, the one formerly occupied by Hon. Cecilia Ogwal.
The Dokolo Woman Representative will now occupy the Third Floor office that has been vacated by Hon. Nandala Mafabi.
It is reported that Mafabi refused to vacate his office and was forcefully evicted.
But the FDC Secretary General says it was not an eviction as some quarters of the media are saying but re-allocation of office space, which is a mandate of the Department of Sergeant at Arms.
In Defence of why he caused a lot of commotion over office space this is what he had to say;
“I am MP for Budadiri West. I am entitled to an office. So where is the office of MP Budadiri West now?”
