Uganda has been declared Ebola free. According to a statement signed by Health minister Ruth Aceng and World Health Organisation country representative Dr. Yonas Tegen Woldemariam, there is no new Ebola case in Kasese or any other part of Uganda.
The Ministry of Health has also announced that the mandatory 21 days of monitoring anybody who gets in contact with an Ebola patient has ended. This means that the country has effectively contained the disease outbreak in Kasese.
However, different measures have been put in place to ensure there is no outbreak. Measures such as screening all travelers from DR Congo, a standby ambulance at Entebbe International Airport and use of protective gear by health workers are in place.
