Former Inspector General of Police John Kisembo has died. He died aged 64 years at Platinum hospital, where he has been receiving treatment. The news of his passing was broken by Police’s Chief Political Commissar Asan Kasingye on his twitter page.
Kisembo served as IGP from January 3, 1999, to April 11, 2001. He was replaced by Gen. Katumba Wamala. Kisembo was born on October 1, 1955, at Kitema, Kibaale District. He joined the Police force in 1980 and some of his colleagues back then included former Inspector General of Police Cossy Odomel, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Retired) Elizabeth Muwanga, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, former CID director Chris Bakiza, and General David Sejusa Tinyefuza.
