There was an incident in Masaka district on Tuesday when Special Forces Command [SFC] blocked National Chairman NRM Youth League, Gaddafi Nassur from entering President Museveni’s tent.
A disheartened Nassur said NRM preaches Patriotism and Pan Africanism but for the first time he came across a one Maj David Rurekura of SFC who is extremely tribalistic yet Museveni was meeting leaders from Greater Masaka.
However Maj. Jimmy Omara, SFC Public Relations Officer, blames Nassur for the altercation saying it was him who provoked SFC Major David Rurekura because Nassur in the company of another leader from Sembabule arrived late at the venue after the president had arrived.
The security team had earlier mounted two check points, one being the check point to the president’s tent [VIP] and the main check point.
Nassur attempted to access the venue through the check point leading to the president’s tent but it had already been closed.
The Officer in Charge Major Rurekura who was obviously doing his job, requested the two individuals to move to the other check point, which they objected to and instead resorted to insulting the officer who stood his ground which did not go well with the two individuals.
Omara said UPDF is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, national in character, professional, disciplined army that is subordinate to civilian authority.
