The Democratic Party president, Norbert Mao has come out to say that DP members who were appointed as People Power coordinators won’t be punished. Speaking at the weekly DP Bloc press briefing at the DP headquarters, Mao said that all they wanted to know are their terms of reference.
Mao’s statement came after the DP Bloc issued various statements that were critical of the appointments. DP went ahead to summon its members who appeared on the list. However the public reacted angrily to the DP move and it was in light of this that Mao came out to clarify that no disciplinary action will be taken against the members.
Mao also added that all that DP wants is dialogue. He said that DP wants to build People Power into a special purpose vehicle and that their priority is removing Museveni from power.
Mao’s clarification is expected to calm the storm that was brewing between people power movement ant the DP Bloc.
