Today marks the fifth day Hakim Ssekamwa is lying six feet under. Hakim is the Boda Boda cyclist knocked down by a police patrol (UP 2525) on 6, Aug as Bobi Wine and his team combed through Wobulenzi upon their return from court in Gulu. A day later, Hakim succumbed to the painful injuries sustained from the accident. His limb flesh had peeled off. Doctors at Bombo hospital where he was rushed neglected him and referred him to Mulago where he died. Mulago doctors wanted shs 270,000 in cash which could not be raised by Hakim’s relatives.

A day after his death on, 9 he was laid to rest at his Luweero ancestral home amid crowds of mourners. At the burial, delegations from People Power led by the spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi and the youth wing leader, Hon. Zaake attended. These critiqued and condemned the police recklessness. Surprisingly, the killer cop patrol was deployed to disrupt the burial ceremony. The mourners maintained their peace and the burial ended peacefully without a bullet fired.

Three days after the burial, we deployed our reporter to Luweero to make a follow up on the killer cops to establish whether they were punished for the committed murder. We reflected on thr IGP’s earlier remarks that officers would individually be charged for their crimes. We only managed to get one name of the killer cop after extensively pleading with a police officer who was on that same patrol at the time Hakim was knocked. The killer driver is called Kizito ranking at Assistant supretendant of police. (ASP) One of his close friends told us Kizito was unapologetic for ending Hakim’s life. When his friend asked him as to whether he was rational about ending a life but in response, he simply said “Bibaawo, nze nali nkola” which translates ‘shit happens, I was on orders’. The killer cop lounges in Luweero drinking spots while the family of the 21 year old continues to weep in agony upon losing their son. His elder brother who spoke to our reporter says, Hakim was humble and reserved. “As a family, we mourn painfully. We leave everything to God”, said his brother as tears rolled out of his eyes
