As People Power supporters are still trying to get to terms with the death of one of their colleagues, Ziggy Wine, another Fire Base crew member and People Power supporter has been knocked by a speeding vehicle.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, Kira Road police is investigating circumstances under which Abubaker Mugisha, also known as First Suspect or Babuman, a member of Fire Base was knocked while traveling on a Boda Boda that was being ridden by one Emmanuel Tumwesigye, 35 in a hit and run accident on Wednesday at around 11pm at Kamwokya.
Onyango noted that according to eyewitnesses, Tumwesigye and Mugisha(Babuman) were riding on a motorcycle before a double cabin vehicle came from behind and knocking them and taking off with registration number UBF 846C
Onyango confirmed that the Fire Base crew member was badly injured unlike the rider of the motorcycle adding that both have been admitted at Mulago for treatment.
He also noted that police has already filled a form to be submitted to Uganda Revenue Authority to have the details and particulars of the owners of the vehicle that was involved in the hit and run accident.
The incident comes only a few weeks after the controversial death of another Fire Base crew member, Michael Kalinda, also known as Ziggy Wine who succumbed to injuries at Mulago hospital of what looked like torture wounds but police dismissed the claims saying it was an accident.
Police maintained that the narrative by the family was unsupported and it was for political reasons.
