Social media today has been trending with a picture of a Toyota Duet of Registration plate number UAT 360L which was pictured with a harsh message to Barclays Bank Uganda posted on the rear windscreen.
The clearly printed and elaborate message saying “I vote Barclays Bank for WORST customer care service”
It is not clear the poor experience the customer went through but it was big enough to push him to the extent of investing money into printing a sticker to paste on his rear screen.
This picture was quickly shared on social media and made its way to the management of Barclays Bank who instructed their customer care department to trace the aggrieved customer and issue an immediate apology.
By the close of the day, the team had managed to locate the customer and a picture was shared of him after meeting the bank officials. We do not have details of what exactly transpired between them.
This negative publicity comes at a time when the ABSA Group that took over Barclays Bank Uganda is in the process of rebranding to start trading with the ABSA name in Uganda. It also comes at a time when South African companies and investors are wary of a backlash from citizens of other countries after their lastest wave of Xenophobia that saw the vandalizing of several businesses and properties belonging to foreigners in South Africa.
