The struggle that Uganda’s police force and sister security agencies have had to endure to try and crack through the sophisticated murders and kidnaps of people over the years, is one that will be told to generations to come. From issuing funny images of suspects to making false declarations of suspects, and still, he struggles seems to have no end in sight.

Well, the police were never ready for the latest twist in their struggle as they tried to solve the murder of an NGO employee Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa were kidnapped last week and brutally murdered by unknown people.

As police made headway into the investigations, they arrested a city socialite identified as Fortune Ayebare Mugisha. Ayebare was picked up by ISO operatives from a petrol station in Kireka. She went missing for several days and when family members started looking for her, police spokesperson Patrick Onyango came out and told the public that she is in police custody. Police said they had arrested her since she was one of the last people to be seen with Nagirinya.

ll, win, sources say someone suspected to be the real killer, called the police and assured cops that they arrested a wrong person and should release Ayebare with immediate effect. The suspect called the police and engaged them for over three hours, giving them details why they had arrested a wrong person (Ayebare) and even duped them about his whereabouts.

It is said that the suspected killer also pretended to be a senior police officer stationed at Naguru headquarters although when detectives went there they failed to locate him. Police have come out to issue an update on the investigations, saying that they have so far arrested 3 suspects whose identities they are yet to reveal. However, it is not clear whether the caller was finally netted.
