We have received information that the Ministry of Education and Sports has directed the Education Service Commission to start the process of recruiting substantive staff in the newly constructed Seed Secondary Schools and Government Aided Schools across the country.
A letter from the Ministry of Education and Sports Permanent Secretary dated September 2nd 2019, addressed to the Chairman of the Education Service Commission, the government constructed 12 Seed Secondary Schools and granted Aid to 50 Secondary Schools which need both teaching and non-teaching staff in order to be run according to Ministry of Education standards.
The breakdown of staff to be recruited for the 2019/2020 Financial Year include Head teachers, Deputy Headteachers, Classroom Teachers, Bursars, School Nurses, Nurses, Secretaries, Librarians, and Laboratory Attendants.
The recruitment of the staff is meant to ensure full operationalization of the government Secondary Schools most of which were taken over by the government from the founders who are Churches.
The recruitment of staff ensures that they will start receiving their salaries from the government of Uganda and also such schools will start getting capitation grant from the government to run the facilities.
According to the letter from the Ministry of Education and Sports, the total number of staff to be recruited shall be 1612 whereby 312 will for Seed Secondary Schools while 1300 will be for Grant Aided Secondary Schools.
