Pelletier Teenage Mothers’ Foundation (PTMOF) is a non-profit organization that works with Pregnant teenagers, Teen Mothers, with their Children in nurturing positive mental health, physical and social development of traumatized young parents of Uganda, helping them to reintegrate back into their communities.
Kyadondo East legislator and People Power principle Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s wife Barbie Kyagulanyi is in the US to grace an event organized by PTMOF to advocate against domestic violence, sexual harassment, labour extortion, human trafficking and several other violations against women and girls in our society.
Barbie Kyagulanyi says “Sadly, we have not opened up discussions about these transgrations. We are silently hearing of or even painfully experiencing these gross atrocities and we are not doing much to change the situation.”
PTMOF Canada is also working to improve the lives of teen mothers in Uganda and in Canada.
Speaking on her attendance, Barbie Kyagulanyi said “PTMOF invited me as Keynote speaker for a two days conference where many other guests from Uganda, youth and adults from the Ugandan community in Canadian diaspora interacted and agreed that it is time to break our silence about these evils happening to us, our mothers, sisters, and friends.”
She has posted on her social media pages thanking the NGO for the opportunity accorded to her saying;
“Thank you PTMOF for opening the discussion, thank you Toronto for embracing the event, for attending it and for sharing your thoughts with everyone. The discussion about violence towards women and youth should be made in our homes and with our leaders. Cases about violations towards women should be given better attention and all evils committed in this line brought to book.”
