The Uganda National Bureau of Standards has this morning mounted operations within Kampala suburbs to reprimand companies and traders engaged in unlawful handling of goods.
This morning in Ssonde, the UNBS team mounted a roadblock in which several transporters or distributors of several products were arrested.

This follows nationwide cries to UNBS to come out and counter the rising number of fake products on the market. Often times, such products are smuggled into the country and are of poor standards affecting the lives of citizens.

Today’s operation, however, has specifically targeted the implementation of transportation standards for goods. Transporters of goods and products must be licensed and meet certain criteria in order to operate.

UNBS has sent a stern warning to companies and distributors who do not meet such quality standards to act soon before the long arm of the Law catches up with them.
