People Power leader and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has come out to heap praise on fellow musician Ronald Mayinja for having used music to speak the truth to a dictator’s face. Ronald Mayinja used Catherine Kusasira’s concert, that had president Yoweri Museveni in attendance, to sing his Bizeemu song that is very critical of NRM and Museveni.
In the song, Mayinja says that the issues that forced Museveni to go to the bush are still prevailing. He mentions kidnaps, tribalism, corruption, murders, poor governance, etc. Museveni, who was the chief guest, was angered and he took to the microphone and accused Mayinja of singing lies in many of his songs including the ‘Bizzemu’. An angry Museveni said that he has never killed anyone and that the current murders are being stopped. Catherine Kusasira also intervened and cut short Mayinja’s performance.
Now, Bobi Wine has come out to praise Mayinja for being courageous and selfless. He declared him his artist of the year and encouraged him to continue on this path.
“Thank you, brother, for being courageous and selfless. Just continue on this path- history will be kind to you! Even if those intolerant cowards cut your performance short because they could not stand the truth, the message was delivered loud and clear. I SALUTE YOU SIR!” Bobi Wine said.
