Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda knifed in latest Kagame advisory team reshuffle
Renowned People Power hater and veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda has been dropped by Paul Kagame in latest reshuffle.
Mwenda has been swerving on the Rwandan presidential advisors committee since 2011 when he was appointed. His knifing according to a reliable source relates to his overwhelming silence on the recent Rwanda-Uganda feud that boiled and lasted for several months.
No official statement relating to the matter has been issued yet but a privy source in Kigali says Mwenda’s sacking stemmed from a Twitter war launched by the Rwandan nationals who called for his sacking.
Surprisingly, all members of the PAC have been retained. The new list of PAC members now has: Dr Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank Group, former Minister of Finance, Rwanda, Dr Clet Niyikiza Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) Vice President of Worldwide Research & Development, Dr Eliane Ubalijoro an Assistant Professor at McGill University, Canada and Prof. Michael Porter.
Mwenda has been lately counteracting the popular growth of the People Power movement in favour of the NRM regime he once battled. He has on several accounts tagged the unemployed Ugandan plight and Bobi Wine supporters as a ‘bunch of hooligans’ something that has since fetched him trouble
