Someone commented that had the order to ban the red beret come during the reign of Afande “Tear gas” Kale Kayihura, he would have already rounded up thousands of People Power supporters suspected of possessing the red beret and engaged in running battles with them in town which would end with a clouds of tear gas over the city.
But gone are the days! The man who was once the terror of the “Opposition” in Uganda has now resorted to goat rearing in Kasahagama in Lyantonde District as the US sanctions against him finally dawn on him.
General Kale Kayihura was not comforted by the news of the denial of a visa to Judiciary PS Pius Bigirimana. Such news only made his predicament more real. It gave him confirmation that indeed the corners of the world were slowly by steadily narrowing and boxing him in.
For a man who once had droves of people lining up at Naguru Police Headquarters to seek his audience and favours, he now barely receives a phone call from anyone. All his “friends” are said to have deserted him in the wake of his domestic and foreign troubles.
Dejected, Afande “Tear Gas” now finds love in the fauna. His goats are a daily companion to him. Sources reveal that the General spends hours in the goat sheds personally feeding them and tending to their needs. His life now rotates around these goats that he showers the love that he was unable to shower to his fellow country people who suffered immensely under his brutal reign at the Uganda Police Force.
