A year later after the fall of Kale Kayihura, criminal gangs have once again hit the streets with new tactics of raiding and tormenting citizens. The rise of Martin Okoth Ochola as the Inspector General of Police was well assessed by renowned political analysts who ruled out that he would not function as the holder of this office but rather his Deputy, Sabiiti Mzee was to overshadow him.
Today this view held by the majority has turned out outstanding. Even though Sabiiti is off millions of miles away in Peru while Ochola is idle within the country, Museveni has opted to wait for the former to return and draft a conclusive report on the prevailing murders.
Part of a retrieved excerpt from Museveni’s Facebook post reads;
“I have given 2 days to Commander Sabiiti of the police to come out with a plan to combat these gangs…..” He goes ahead to reduce the murderous crimes committed by these gangs on civilians to mere games as his final line confirms. “Their crimes will only add to the credit of the NRM because we are going to defeat them……”
IGP Ochola is the first professional police officer in years to hold the post, a reason the militaristic NRM government prefers Sabiiti Mzee over him.
