A Crime preventer has been further remanded to Luzira prison over the murder of a suspected bulb thief.
The Crime Preventer identified as Bogere Ssenoga who has been on remand since 2017 appeared before High Court judge Wilson Kwesiga on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, the Prosecution team led by Salama Nabbosa stated that on February 22, 2017 at Yesu Amala zone- Nansana town Council in Wakiso District, Bogere and others still at large beat Deus Lazaro Ssekimpi to death accusing him of stealing a bulb from a bar.
Bogere apparently attacked Ssekimpi after the bar proprietor, a one Irene Namwanje reported to him that the victim had stolen a bulb from her bar.
Bogere came to Namwanje’s rescue immediately and he claims he was taking Ssekimpi to police as he continued beating him before he mobilized a mob against the victim.
Ssekimpi’s death was a result of the beating by the mob, Bogere was later arrested and detained while the other people who took part in the mob justice took off.
The Famous Nansana Crime Preventer was further remanded until October 22, 2019.
