The Katikkiro of Buganda Owekitibwa Charles Peter Mayiga has cautioned a section of people reportedly engaged in grabbing and encroaching on palace land in Mujaguzo, Kabowa in Rubaga division.
Katikkiro expressed his dissatisfaction while touring the Mujaguzo palace and also commended the Buganda land board for protecting the land amidst the malicious talk from those seeking to ‘grab’ it for their selfish intentions.
“I have many letters written to me by a section of people telling me how Buganda land board is selling the palace land,” he said, directing that no structure should be erected on it because it is cultural land.
A bitter Katikkiro noted that the Kabaka has Power to fire anyone from traditional office within the kingdom and assign anyone he wants and feels can serve him and his interests adding that those selling Palace Land should stand warned.
Mayiga also revealed that Preparations for the Kabaka to visit Mujaguzo Palace were underway.
Owekitibwa Kiwalabye also warned the Palace caretakers from getting involved in fraud and selling the Palace land because their role is to protect the land diligently rather than selling it.
