Police in Mpigi district are currently investigating a case in which an unidentified man attacked a Prison wardress attached to Mpigi Prisons and stole a gun from her while on duty.
The Prison wardress whose gun was stolen while on Whatsapp has been identified as Hadijah Katono who was attacked during the Monday Downpour while guarding Prisoners at Mpigi Prison.
The Mpigi District Police Commander said the gun had not yet been recovered adding the preliminary investigations pin the Prison wadress having been busy on Whatsapp at the time her gun was stolen.
Reports also indicate that the Gun thief came with an arrow, slapped the wardress twice and picked the gun from her before fleeing into a nearby forest.
The Prison Wardress is currently detained at Mpigi Central Police station pending further investigation into negligence of safeguarding her gun, but residents are now living in fear over suspicion the stolen gun could be used to terrorize them.
Some of the Residents such as Mr. Majid have advised Prison authorities to deploy the army around the prison and its neighborhood to tighten security since Mpigi Prison has for long had a problem of inadequate manpower.
