Former Aide to commander Police flying squad Herbert Muhangi has been arrested among the six people who were arrested by Police in Ntungamo District over a wave of armed robberies that have been happening around the Country.

Famous Security Operative Mr. Augustine Tumwine and aide to Muhangi was among the six suspects arrested last week from the various parts of the country after police intensified operations as armed robberies and murders overwhelmed the Country.

Tumwine a born of Ntungamo also worked closely with Former IGP Kale Kayihura during his tenure.

The Ntungamo District Police Commander, Mr. Damian Katwesime said that police tracked very many suspects from different locations and Tumwine was among the last to be arrested.

“We have since arrested six suspects for armed robberies that took place between September 10 and September 26. We have also recovered two guns with Congolese registration numbers, masks, laptop bags, and three motorcycles,” Mr. Katwesime said.

The Police operation followed robberies that claimed the lives of five Boda Boda men and a businessman. Others arrested include Mr. Rogers Karanzi, Mr. Obadia Niwagaba, Mr. Fred Bahati, a minerals dealer, Mr. Brian Mboga, and Mr. Sam Nkurunziza.

Mr. Tumwine was arrested from Kampala and taken to Ntungamo where he led police to a swamp where he had hidden two guns allegedly used for robbery.
