Over the weekend Catherine Kusasira survived being lynched by a group of Youth from Makindye division who turned rowdy after promises of cash handouts did not materialise.
The Groups of Youths who had converged at St Agnes Church Makindye were expecting musician Catherine Kusasira to be the chief guest in function where they hoped to receive cash handouts.
The locals who had patiently waited later turned rowdy after receiving information that Kusasira was not aware of the meeting that was organized and therefore they were not going to receive any cash handouts as had earlier been announced.
“They are just playing political games with us because they lied to us, we are not happy ,they are looking for our votes ,why have they registered as if they were not going to give us money?” One of the youth asked.
For over two hours, business was at a standstill as People demanded an explanation from the Organizers who had earlier announced that Kusasiira would be distributing handouts.
Kusasiira was immediately tipped off and asked to clear her name with immediate effect since over 180 youth had been registered to receive hand outs.
Speaking to Kusasira, she distanced herself from the organisers of the meeting referring to them as conmen who only used her name to defraud the youths adding that People are trying to tarnish her name through promising handouts she cannot deliver.
Catherine Kusasira was recently appointed Presidential advisor on Kampala affairs in charge of coordinating the young ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) recruits in the slum dwellings and to make sure they mobilize Kampala to vote for Museveni in 2021.
