Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Don Wanyama has said that the anti-corruption walk is an international celebration that has been localized in Uganda.
Wanyama noted that the walk against corruption has been happening but the only different thing this year is that the President asked to join the walk as a way to communicate to the Public that he is against Corruption.
“This is an international celebration that has been localized. The walk against corruption has been happening here and this is not the first time. The only new thing is that the president asked to join the walk this time,” Wanyama said in part.
The Presidential Press Secretary added that the president has always been hard against corruption and one of the reasons for his walking this time is to highlight the success stories that have been registered in the struggle against the vice for the last 32 years.
“For those that have been following the president keenly, he has made public announcements against corruption. Many laws and institutions against corruption are a brainchild of the president,” he added.
While Critics say that Corruption can not just be walked out of the Country because the real Corrupt People are close or even have ties with the President, Wanyama note that Corruption is a vice that keeps evolving time and again so the president has to keep changing the ways in which he fights it as well.
