NRM leaning People Power coordinator, John Baptist Nambeshe who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Manjiya County in Bududa district says he will not participate in NRM primaries.

The self styled politician however maintained he is to contest in the general elections as an independent candidate under the People Power ticket. Nambeshe attributes his source of discontent to the unanimous NRM delegates conference outcome that established a new voting system in which voters will have to line behind their choices.

In Manjiya, about ten people have already showed interests in unseating the Bugisu force from Manjiya county. The contenders include former NRM minister, David Wakikona, Bududa LCV boss Wilson Watira and RDC Namisindwa Kigai who are quite a threat due to their direct state support.

Other contenders are Mutangi Abdu, Moses Natala, Kumi district RDC Hussein Kato Matanda among others.

Nambeshe won the previous polls with a landslide margin. His visible achievements like sticking to the people’s voice during the age limit fracas are some of the factors maintaining his might in the region.

He is a loyal leader to the people’s struggle which is why the People Power movement tasked him to supersede the Eastern coordination activities.
