Legendary Musician Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone has warned fellow artistes against supporting the ruling National Resistance Movement Party(NRM) claiming that the Party is not loyal and should never be trusted by anyone.
In 2016, Jose Chameleon was part of a group of artists who did the “Tubonga naawe” song ahead of the 2016 general elections in support of President Museveni but he recently crossed to the opposition where he will be challenging Lukwago for the Lord Mayor seat in 2021.
In an exclusive interview with NBS UNCUT, Chameleon reechoed that the ruling Party is not loyal and will never be loyal cautioning artistes who are associating with it to be vigilant ahead of 2021.
“I will repeat this. NRM is not loyal, they don’t have truth and they are lying to them (artists). Why should they buy someone’s love with money? Someone has to love you naturally without money,” Chameleone said.
He also added that as a Ugandan in a democratic country like Uganda, he and every other artist have a right to support whoever they want.
“Everyone is free to support whoever they want. If they want NRM, let them go”
On the issue of vying for the Lord mayor seat in 2021, Chameleone reassured Ugandans and most especially the Kampala people that he is ready to take on Erias Lukwago with solutions for all Kampala’s problems.
“I am still in the race. I hear many people saying that I have given up but I want to assure you that I am coming to take charge of our city with solutions. We are tired of people who talk a lot without making any impact. We elect them and they cry with us. We need to change that,” Chameleone said.
