As lovebirds strolled the town looking for a better spot to spend their Valentine’s Day from, three dauntless students from Makerere University, Musiri David, Siperia Mollie and Ashannah decided to celebrate their early Valentine’s Day with senior activist Dr. Stella Nyanzi from prison.
David Musiri took to his Facebook wall praising the friendship that Dr. Stella Nyanzi had with his mother who is long deceased and the hope he has that Dr. Stella Nyanzi will be set free soon. They carried gifts that would brighten her day and made some interactions with her.
Musiri David, Siperia Mollie and others are still serving a suspension that was slapped on them by the Makerere University administration for participating in the ‘Fees must fall’ strike that took place in November last year 2019.
The two are set to face the Makerere University’s disciplinary committee on 16th Feb 2020 in order to determine their fate. Makerere University did not respond positively to the parliament’s directive of reinstating these suspended students which has greatly affected their studies at the mighty institution of learning.
Dr. Stella Nyanzi is a writer, feminist and academician who was was arrested and charged on charges of cyber harassment and many others to which she was found guilty of the cyber harassment chargeon August 1st 2019. Dr. Stella has been incarcerated for about two years and she is set to face the court again on 22 Feb 2020.
Dr. Stella is highly praised for her fearless character of speaking the truth no matter what the repercussions might be. She is serving her 18 months sentence at Luzira prison.
