Boda Boda man who transported Bugiri Imam Assailant has been arrested amongst eight other suspects.
Sheikh Mutumba Masudi, the Imam of Lwemba Masjid Noor in Bugiri district was on Friday shot dead by yet to be known assailants after he immediately returned home from Prayers
According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, Police arrested eight suspects who included the Boda Boda man that aided in the transportation of the killers to and from the crime scene.
Enanga revealed that there is suspicion that the gunman used the same Boda Boda rider to complete mission which included going to the scene and fleeing the scene after killing the Imam.
Sheikh Mutumba’s 10-year-old child recounted the incident saying that they had seen unknown people trailing them but never bothered to find out who they were and immediately they got home, the Sheikh received a call before he was shot dead in the head.
Enanga noted that preliminary investigations indicate that Sheikh Mutumba was killed over a land wrangle he had with Sulaiman Kouta.
Sheikh Mutumba had previously won a civil suit which prompted Suleiman to appeal in the high court and later eliminated him for fear of losing the appeal to him also.
Enanga noted that the Imam’s killing is not in any way connected to the 2016 killings of the Muslim clerics adding that Police has already identified the shooter with leads from the cartridges recovered from the crime scene.
