People Power Movement Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi has fired back at Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga who had advised Presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to formally write to Police instead of dumping letters at their Headquarters.
On Friday 14, February, Bobi Wine wrote to the IGP notifying him about how he was going to resume his consultations that are scheduled to kick start on Monday 24, February at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel Ndeeba.
Whereas Bobi Wine had also officially announced the resuming of consultations, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga shocked the Public during a press briefing when he said that Bobi Wine had dumped his letter at Police without a clear description of what kind of meeting he was set to hold,
“Yes we received the letter informing us about Hon Robert Kyagulanyi’s consultation meetings; the letter indicates that his (Bobi Wine) first meetings will be held at Pope Memorial Hotel, but the way he informed the police was informal, you do not have to dump the letter,” he said.
Enanga added that in the last meeting held with EC, Bobi Wine, Police and other stakeholders were guided on how to formally communicate to Police.
Enanga says that Bobi Wine failed to follow the agreed procedures and decided to start organizing his meetings without agreeing with other parties which contradicts the agreement.
A few weeks ago, Police foiled all Bobi Wine’s consultation meetings on grounds of alleged lack of clear description and clearance from the law enforcement bodies.
According to Joel Ssenyonyi, Police are looking for all ways to block the People Power Movement consultation meetings.
“What I can say is that the police are only forging all possible tricks to block us from conducting the meeting, they told us to forward our plans earlier and we did it. When they say that the way of communication we used was not formal, do they want us to go kneeling to prove to how serious we are? Ssenyonyi asked.
He also revealed that they had agreed on organizing their meetings in a closed place which was done and the notification letter was also accompanied by receipts of venue clearance adding that Enanga and his Bosses should stop frustrating the movement and let Bobi Wine do his consultations because he is doing everything within the Laws.
