People Power supporters protest blockade of Bobi’s consultation meeting
The scheduled consultative meeting at the secured Pope Pope Paul memorial hotel venue hit a snug after police spent the entire Sunday night warming up to block it.
Although the Kyadondo East legislator, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and his movement had met all the requirements, police had vowed not to let the event occur and they couldn’t offer justification reasons. As highly anticipated, Bobi Wine and his supporters could not access the venue following the immense deployment of armed police officers who had encircled the perimeters of the venue.
When reached to give his account for blocking Bobi Bobi Wine’s meeting, the police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga told the media that Bobi Wine had failed to fulfill all the required standards. Consequently, enraged Bobi Bobi Wine supporters have set bonfires on the streets of Ndeeba, a Kampala suburb in Rubaga division. Police is firing bullets to calm the enraged mobs that are visibly seen pelting stones at patrols.
It should be remembered that the Electoral Commission earlier mediated a meeting between Bobi Wine and a delegation from the Uganda police in a bid to iron out the differences between the two sides. It was resolved that the two sides were to deeply delve into the public order management act which was the source of their misunderstanding.
