Police today morning experienced tough moments while trying to restore traffic order at the independence parliament after a couple of abandoned piglets disrupted the road flow.
Reliable security sources link the demonstration to ‘The Alternative Uganda’, a group renowned for the same vice. The dropped piglets bore some inscriptions denouncing the energy minister, Irene Muloni for planning a give away of the Murchison Falls to private investors who want to set up a hydro power plant.
The youth activist group argues that the give away of Murchison will have climatic consequences as it will deprive the country of her beautiful scenery and yet she has been reaping big from the tourism sector. The Alternative communications unit issued a statement to defend their actions I which they say, ‘We have seen many countries investing in the digging/construction of man made lakes and rivers and a nation so blessed like Uganda is instead pushing towards destruction of the same to have construction of a hydro power dam so as to increase on the supply of power in this modern era when people are moving towards the use of solar energy. Regardless of our political divides and ideologies, we ask all Ugandans to jointly resist this orthodox, unpatriotic, unwise, primitive and evil government decision to auction our pearl.’
No arrest was made in relation to the demonstration save for the two piglets which have been impounded to aid the police investigations.
