Mzee John Nagenda has used “One Man’s Week” column in Saturday Vision to renew his wish to see NRM conspicuously prepare someone to become next President not withstanding the good showing. He urges that a cautious political party like NRM must always hold in reserve that some other individual in case a crisis arose making the incumbent not available anymore.
Nagenda rhetorically adds that President Museveni has to know that presidency isn’t a monarchy where succession goes by birth. Call me a sucker but I believe him. On the hand, you can not automatically refuse Muhoozi his right to stand, though I would not automatically give him my vote. Nagenda says this is something he has thought about for too long.
In the same article, the same Mzee Nagenda who previously bashed those pushing for scrapping of the age limit in the Constitution so that President Museveni would stay on beyond 2021, praises the same President as one that deserves to win the forthcoming general elections with even a more convincing margins than before.
He also tackles the last week teargas fracas that engulfed Jinja town as Dr. Kizza Besigye, whose political extinction he predicts, insisted on addressing supporters there. Mzee Nagenda implies that much as he agrees with Jinja RDC Eric Sakwa who says they are resentful of Besigye’s visits, the Jinja residents don’t deserve all the destruction and teargas that police unleashes each time Dr. Besigye visits their town.
