All Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) councillors have convened at City Hall ahead of the speaker polls today. The main competition is between Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC’s) Doreen Nyanjura and Abubaker Kawalya (FDC leaning People Power). There is a heavy deployment at the City Hall premises and also censored Media coverage as only two reporters from each media house have been granted access. Also vigilance in health is prevalent. There are anti Coronavirus disinfectants for everyone entering the KCCA Chambers. Members of the public are currently barred from accessing the Chambers. It is the very first time that the KCCA will have a speaker following the amendments that stripped the Lord Mayor of that role of presiding over the house. We will keep you posted on how the election will unfold.
