A couple of days ago, Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has written to the Uganda government asking them to receive Ugandans and other citizens of African states stranded in China.
In his letter dated 15th April 2020 to the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Kyagulanyi copied the foreign affairs minister and internal affairs minister, and request them to accept these people in the country.
Now, The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem however said Bobi wine should leave foreign Affairs to the President.
“This is a foreign policy issue that you do not just wake up and do,” he alarmed.
The Minister further noted that by law, the responsibility of protecting Ugandans abroad is given to the Yoweri Museveni, “If any Uganda dies abroad, this is also the responsibility of the President of Uganda”.
Oryem’s full statement
“If any Ugandan succeeds and achieves, it is the responsibility of the President of Uganda, if any Uganda dies abroad, this is also the responsibility of the President of Uganda. Does he have the capacity to be held responsible for all of this, no? This is a foreign policy issue that you do not just wake up and do”. Oryem noted.
