Senior presidential communications manager and veteran journalist, Don Wanyama has lashed out at the US based Cable News Network (CNN) over its failure to notice Museveni’s efforts in fighting COVID-19.
In a space barely a day after Bobi’s international interview hit global platforms, a jealous Wanyama has already made a public tweet, this Thursday fuming at CNN. Wanyama fails to understand the criteria CNN used to select Bobi Wine over Museveni. A disappointed Don Wanyama doubted the authenticity of the CNN media that interviewed Bobi. He first thought they were imposter journalists only to see a verified tick on their Twitter handle. He then challenged CNN journalists to come to Uganda and look for the actual front liners battling the pandemic. “Just confirming the fake news label. A little research would tell you the key frontline players in Uganda are. Or it is just about pushing a certain agenda?,” Wanyama fumed in tweet. Wanyama accused CNN of promoting Bobi Wine yet Museveni is the lead ‘frontline player’ in the COVID-19 fight.
On Wednesday, the CNN commended Bobi Wine for being an outstanding key player in the fight against COVID-19. Bobi Wine composed a sensitizing hit song with informative messages which spread faster than the virus itself. He later expressed interest in repatriating Africans stuck in xenophobic China. And by publication of this story, Bobi Wine has already sent solidarity messages to heads of state around the globe.
