Friday has been the third consecutive action day of Mityana residents as they hit the streets in protest of Zaake’s detention.
Contrary to Abraham Luzzi’s (NRM candidate) directive to the RPC Latif Zaake and the DPC Mwiine, that no food shop should be open in a bid to starve the angry locals, today people have exploded into protestors and stormed all the major streets in the municipality. The protests are also directed at the area RDC Isha Ntumwa who is being accused of acting unprofessionally by denying struggling mothers stickers in times of health emergencies. “The RDC is accusing all of us for supporting Zaake. He says he will not freely give out his stickers till one proves allegiance to NRM,” cries out one of the protestors. “And on food relief, he swore not to give Boda Boda cyclists whom he says are People Power supporters,” adds a another female protestor.
At 12:00 hours, soldiers were deployed to combat the protestors. The RDC himself was seen taking part in the flogging spree that indiscriminately targeted all age groups. Women and children were seen on the front leading starving constituents.
The Mityana legislator remains in police custody since last Sunday when the authorities raided his Mityana residence. Zaake was reportedly brutalised by his namesake and RPC of Wamala region, Latif Zaake backed by the RDC DPC Mwiine. His ill health condition has left him hospitalised at Iran-Uganda friendship hospital in Naguru. No family member is allowed to get even close to Zaake as police conceals the torture from getting to the public eye.
