The speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has interfaced and qurried ministers on the single-sourcing of Nytil textile industries to manufacture face masks for all Ugandans.
The Ministers here in Parliament need to understand that the worry of Ugandans is that the resumption of public transport has been made contingent upon acquiring masks, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga pointed out.
She said many are concerned that the masks are to be manufactured by Nytil and that until everybody has those masks, there will be no public transport. “The questions we are asking as Parliament are, when are they going to be made. If I buy my own mask, will I be allowed to use it; because people are tired of being in the lockdown,” she noted.
According to Kadaga, the conditions for which Ugandans are being asked to wait are beyond their control.
“Does Nytil have the money? Does it have the materials and expertise? That is not in our control,” she noted.
