The former presidential press secretary, Joseph Tamale Mirundi says the Health Ministry officials are just on nothing other than the money heist. Mirundi says he has learnt that the health officials are inflating the Covid crisis just to loot and siphon money from it.
Speaking today on his weekly political commentary televised on NBS, an emotionally furious Mirundi exposed the impending rot in the Health Ministry. Mirundi says that despite the heavy budget, the health experts are reporting shortage in the personal protective equipment (PPE) so they can get extra funding. Mirundi also says the Mafias abnormally inflated the price tag of the Covid test kits. According to his findings, the total sum of money budgeted for one Ugandan Covid patient can treat 50 sick Kenyan. He says the president is already aware of this following his findings on the same issue. “The president rang his counterparts; Magufuli and Kenyatta and they both told him a test kit per person in their countries is at $3.5 compared to $65 in Uganda,” Mirundi retorted. “Do you even know why the Mafias arrested you after your radio program? They called CID boss Grace Akullo to intercept you. You are now on their wanted list,” Mirundi revealed to the host, Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira.
Mirundi further reveals that the president grilled Aceng about the rot in her ministry but she smartly distanced herself from the scandals as she stressed that she has never been a procuring officer. On the arrest of Acholi MPs, Mirundi says they are right to pose those questions to the ministry. “Why didn’t they plan for Gulu hospital yet it’s the nearest point to Elegu?,” he wondered. He further notes that most of Uganda’s admitted ‘asymptomatic’ Covid victims are in good shape and not sick as the ministry insinuates. “These people are just malicious. They gave false results to the Hoima doctor to justify the closure of his clinic. His contact patients were not even reached. The man told me his relative at UVRI Entebbe told him he was negative contrary to what the ministry communicated,” Mirundi said while reflecting on the spiking cases. He concludes that what the Mafias in the ministry want is nothing other than getting more patients since they earn a lot of money in treating each patient and yet the care they give to these patients is minimal.
