Top members of the Forum for Democratic Change party have rejected Stella Nyanzi’s prayer for a merger between opposition fronts of the People’s Government and People Power movement.
The members have further disowned her and pronounced her a dissident that has failed to respect the party structures by making what they termed as ‘baseless’ opinions.
Besigye’s blue eyed girl is one of the members who contested the merger as she deemed Stella’s proposal to have their supremo as a premier in the next government as belittling. “Some Ugandans joke too much, now KB has been proposed to be a PM in Bobi’s government! Anyways the Besigye I know has never been driven by positions,” reacts Nyanjura. “We do it for love, we don’t do it for money. We do it for our country, we don’t do it for positions, positions are secondary and diversionary,” she further fumes.
Charles Nkonge, another ardent FDC supporter took it personal and reminded Stella of how their party stood with her throughout her trial. He even goes ahead to add that upon her release, it was the People’s Government which hosted her at Katonga road for the return party. Nkonge further reveals that some FDC youths are still struggling with a case in the Buganda road court for bottling magistrate, Gladys Kamasanyu.
“We would like to strongly warn Dr. Stella Nyanzi as FDC youths that this was uncalled for and you must apologise to the People’s Government. How could you degrade Kizza Besigye with a choice like this? Don’t ignite the fire,” warns Anthony Tumwine, another FDC youth.
The debate is still ongoing but what this site has learnt is that most FDC bigwigs have strongly rejected Stella’s proposal. One of the NEC members is said to have hurled tantrums on the WhatsApp group and even proposed that they replicate what they did to Nyakato Asinasi in the Hoima byelection. “Not even Nabillah could say such a thing. I think we must do something to this woman in her Kampala race,” reads the WhatsApp chat seen by this site.
Stella’s prayer for a merger is for the good of the opposition members in a way that it will at least enable them to first deal with Uganda’s mega problem of Yoweri Museveni. After that, there will be discussions regarding the power struggle. She is being opposed specifically by that group which prefers remaining in the opposition because that’s what earns them money.
