Addressing the nation on Uganda’s coronavirus statistics, President Museveni said that among the 679 cases of Coronavirus in Uganda, There are some who were given fake positive results “due to carelessness” of some technicians.
Museveni didn’t mention the exact number of erroneous cases but asked health minister Dr. Ruth Aceng to clarify whether the said cases are part of the 679 number or not.
“On May 30, the truck drivers who tested positive were 49, then another day, they were 22. But as you can see, the numbers are reducing now. Let’s be serious and ensure we defeat this small but very dangerous enemy”. He said.
“We are winning this war if only everybody listens,” he said on Thursday June 11, 2020, while delivering the national budget speech.
He however added that this anomaly was quickly discovered and fresh tests were done and the facts came out. Museveni further asked people along the border areas to be more vigilant in identifying people who could have sneaked into the country.
