Residents around Kampala in areas of Lubaga, Kabalagala and Makindye West started demonstrating after a call by united forces of change for the people of Uganda to show their dissatisfaction over the way the government of Uganda has poorly handled the covid-19 pandemic where citizens have been locked up in their houses for close to three months but failed to serve them with food relief as many live on hand to mouth.
This kind of demonstration is going to be carried out on a daily basis as it was guided by the two leaders; Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert the leader of the People Power Movement and Dr. Kizza Besgye of the People’s government.
The government came up with a proposal of distributing food relief in the two districts of Kampala and Wakiso on account of UGX 59 billion passed by parliament to cater for the welfare of Ugandans which failed according to the citizens. Many people didn’t receive the food relief and those who received claimed that the food was not suitable for human consumption pointing out majorly on rotten beans and poor maize floor which could not be consumed by pigs according to those who received it.
The group of people who have been chanting ‘People Power Twagala mere’ literally meaning People Power we need food, while beating saucepans have battled with Police, army and LDU which saw many arrested including Musiri David of Makindye west and seven other people. Motorcycles impounded.
