A team of loyalists to the ruling National Resistance Movement party have today defected to Uganda’s leading opposition group led by the Kyadondo East legislator and presidential contender, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine which is dubbed the People Power movement.

In a delightful event held at the People Power headquarters in Kamwokya, the group of six former NRM youths swore allegiance to Bobi Wine as their generational leader and were bitterly critical of the elderly telegenic despot’s unending cling to presidency. The youths confessed their urge to be part of the liberation front led by Bobi Wine. “NRM is out fashioned, everything is a out Museveni and his unending grip to power,” said the youths. “We believe Bobi Wine is the rightful person to put things right. And we choose not be spectators but actors in this struggle. We urge other optimistic youths to embrace and join this struggle to free our people,” they added.

The youths surrender NRM shirts as sign of remorse

The televised event ended with the handing over of NRM yellow shirts. The youths surrendered the yellow inscribed shirts identical to Museveni and his group. Bobi Wine closed the moment with enthroning the new converts with the red berets as a symbol of acceptance into the People Power struggle. The delighted young men vowed to be part of the vote hunting team of Bobi Wine and all People Power candidates.
