Things have started backfiring at the Uganda Ministry of health as social media is awash with claims that the fourth Covid-19 death was a hoax from the ministry of health. According to the official statement from the Uganda ministry of heath which was posted on their official Facebook account, the deceased was a 61 year old who had been battling Pneumonia from Mengo hospital and was later admitted to Mulago hospital.
According to the same official communication from the ministry of health, they do not confirm that the deceased tested positive for COVID-19 but rather SARS-Covid-2. The communication strictly says that samples were taken from her and tested but they do not state whether she tested positive for the Coronavirus or not, leaving this information skeptical.
Emerging social media criticism
One particular Facebook account in the names of Rugumayo ka Kusemererwa posted saying that it was a a lie and claiming that he was connected to the family.
“The 4th “Covid 19” death is a hoax. She is the mother in law to my brother.
She has been battling pneumonia for a long time and her condition has been steadily deteriorating with her advancing age until she breathed her last.
Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero make your accountability elsewhere.
Whereas the Ministry of Health- Uganda is claiming she is a victim of Covid 19, no one has been tested from her household and those who took her to the hospital & escorted her body after her death were told to go back home and would be contacted later.” Read his post.
Rugumayo says that no one has been tested positive from her household and those who took her to the hospital and escorted her body after her death.
This has sent mixed reactions among the people who are trying to trace for the truths in these counts. Many claim it is the opposition at work while others believe it is a hoax since there has been many lies told by the government, including the one in Arua where they claimed that Bobi Wine a.k.a Robert Kyagulanyi was found with fire arms and later withdrew the charges.
