Atleast three people have died as a result of taking excessive alcohol in different parts of Rukungiri district, in a space of one week.

Last week on Monday, Julius Twesigye, 64, a resident of Kamujegye cell in Rwerere Town Council, allegedly took excess alcohol while he had gone to visit a friend and he was announced dead the next day. Another resident Herbert Mugabe, a fishmonger, also passed on after taking alcohol and his body was found in his sitting room. On the same day, Timothy Karenzi 46, was found dead in his bedroom by his colleague and residents attribute these sudden deaths to alcohol and prolonged COVID-19 lockdown.
