President Museveni spent his entire Thursday angrily at war with Facebook and Twitter users whom he accused of peddling a sectarian debate emerging from a parody style comic skit performed by the Bizonto group.
An enraged Museveni bitterly pronounced the entire debate as ‘nonsenical’ and urged the involved to distance his army out of that debate. In his reiteration, the 75 year old tyrant controversially says his appointments are entirely on merit and not premised on tribe as alleged. He further added that he actually feels more contended working with other tribesmen and that this is something he embraced way back as a student at Daresalaam University.
It should be noted that tribal debate had been existent for all the time this regime has existed. Several government and civil service appointments are allegedly approved on tribal grounds.
On July 23, the debate was promoted by the Bizonto comedy group who performed a skit in which they mentioned key government positions owned by people from the Western region. In their skit, they provocatively rallied children to pray for their leaders who have done a ‘commendable’ job in stabilizing this country. When the skit went viral awash social media platforms, the Bizonto group was raided at their Radio Simba premises and detained at Special Investigations Unit, Kireka. They would later be charged for promoting sectarianism and instilling hate among the population.
