Veteran Mukono municipality legislator and DP stalwart, Betty Nambooze Bakireke has finally opened up on supporting Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu for presidency ahead of the 2021 polls. Speaking over the weekend to one of the local media in an exclusive interview, Nambooze revealed she individually embraces the trail of Bobi Wine as the next president of Uganda. She however said, as the People’s Government, they’ve agreed that Kyagulanyi leads the country for 10 years before handing over to the twelfth president.

Though she serves The People’s Government as its spokesperson, Nambooze ditched her longterm ally and PG president, Kizza Besigye whom she says has lost pace and vigour to take on the country’s top most seat. Nambooze likened political doyen, Besigye to an ageing lion that cannot vigorously hunt in the jungle.

She reveals that she is apparently opent to a NUP subscription since the DP to which she subscribes has no motive of reclaiming the leadership of the country. “Right now, I am reading the NUP constitution to understand what is happening then I cross. I have 602 villages here and they have told me wherever I go, they will cross with me,” Nambooze told The Monitor reporter. Asked about her recent engagement with the NUP/PP principal, Nambooze says she was all about harnessing her grounds in Mukono. “I would have joined any political party, but when I met Kyagulanyi, I asked him, ‘are you ready to take on refugees?’ You will know his answer this week,” Nambooze said.
