Veteran journalist, Andrew Mujuni Mwenda has disputed the ongoing allegations that he picked nomination forms for the councillor slot as intimated by the National Unity Platform spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi.
Earlier last week, the motor-mouthed self confessed regime praise singer teasingly converted to the National Unity Platform party in what appeared to be an experimental stunt to test the rate of tolerance in Kamwokya. Moments before his arrival, Mwenda in a talk show with NBS said he can’t go to NUP and come out alive but to his dismay, Bobi Wine supporters gave him a honoury reception. Mwenda did not just stop at subscribing with NUP but went ahead to pick what he called the ‘presidential nomination’ forms so he could challenge Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu for the party endorsement.
Reacting to Mwenda’s acclaims last week, Ssenyonyi told the press that the maverick journalist had picked the wrong forms as nominations for that seat had not been opened yet. This site has since learnt that it could have been possible that by the time Mwenda picked the forms, the nominations weren’t open then. It corresponds with the fact that Bobi Wine is picking his party presidential nominations today, Friday 14.
In a tweet published today, Mwenda writes,
“These are the forms I picked and are now filling for presidential candidate on NUP ticket! Yet spokesperson, Joel Senyonyi, had the audacity to claim I picked forms for youths and local councils. Can he show how this form is not for president but for local councils?,” and adds in the thread, “Leaders of a party that claims to fight fraud and manipulation should lead by example & act with integrity. I informed the young NUP officials I wanted presidential candidate forms. They were well organized and gave me the right forms! Why then is NUP changing goal posts!??”
