Emerging reports indicate that the King of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has been flown out of the country after falling critically ill.
Inside sources say the King was not feeling well the whole of Thursday night. An audio attributed to a one Ndagire Tajooba reveals that Katikiro, Charles Peter Mayiga and his syndicate have for the last couple of years planned for the downfall of the Kabaka. In the said audio, Ndagire Tajooba revealed “I hereby inform you that the Kabaka of Buganda has been flown out of the country in a very critical condition,” Ndagire reiterates in the audio that “The King is out of the country together with the prince Wasajja and the premier Charles Peter Mayiga. We are reliably told that the king’s closest aide has been denied giving him company to the hospital. Ndagire accuses the Katikiro Mayiga and Prince Wasajja of planning something untoward against the Kabaka inside Mengo.
“In Buganda we love the King as our cultural leader. We last saw him at the Internal affairs ministry picking his e-passport. We wondered why the Kabaka had to do this himself when the Katikiro was busy selling his Ettofaali books,” Ndagire fumes in the audio. “The Katikkiro was selling each copy at UGX 50,000 moreover in the office of the Kabaka where business is not supposed to be made,” she adds.
We couldn’t ascertain the position of Mengo on the leaking audio but sources in Mengo preferring anonymity say it is possible the King is unwell however, it is unlikely he has been poisoned. we are also hearing that he’s been rushed to Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi. But I’m not in position to add more details to this. Let’s await an official statement from the Kingdom authorities,” the source says.
For the last decade, Mengo has been at loggerheads with the incumbent NRM governemnet. In September 2009, tension heightened and a replica of the 1966 Kabaka crisis was seen as Museveni openly waged war on BBuganda kingdom. Several Buganda loyalists remain detained in Luzira and the official Kingdom broadcaster, CBS was warned never to publish anything sensitive about Buganda. We are closely following the issue as we await an official statement from Mengo.
