The Forum for Democratic Change party is yet to decide on who will carry its presidential flag in the 2021 general elections. According to emerging reports, the four time lifetime presidential candidate, Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye has still declined to offer himself for the seat despite the tension at the headquarters. Earlier on, Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa had hired his youths under the Red top brigade who were to storm Besigye’s Kasangati residence and drag him to the headquarters to get nominated.

We have since learnt that even with that stunt, Besigye remains fearful of facing a generational leader like Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who continues to impress the masses as their left ray of hope to realize change.

Angered by Besigye’s stubbornness, the FDC party president, Patrick Oboi Amuriat has decided to offer himself to take on the seat. Trusted sources say even Nandala Mafabi, Wasswa Birigwa and Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo will pick the forms just for formality and create an impression that the competition was healthy. In his declaration statement, Amuriat says;

“Fellow Citizens, family, friends and members of the Great Forum for Democratic Change Party,
Greetings.

I have this day of 17th August, 2020 taken a conscious decision to offer myself as candidate for President of Uganda. For this to happen I must subject myself to the internal selection process of my party, the Forum for Democratic Change, FDC.

Accordingly I will be picking and completing the FDC forms for Expression of Interest tomorrow Wednesday 19th August, 2020 at 10:30 am and returning Nomination forms on 26th August, 2020 at 11 am.

I count on you all to offer prayers and all forms of support as I make this journey to become the highest ranking servant of this country. ”

Thank you all
God bless you.
